Home Energy Assessments

Are you a Boroondara resident who wants to save money on your energy bills and improve your home comfort?

Thanks to funding from City of Boroondara, Electrify Boroondara is now offering a free Home Energy guide service to help households save money, improve energy efficiency and comfort and transition to an all-electric home.

Home Energy Assessments

It is often possible to retrofit an existing dwelling to improve energy efficiency without spending a lot of money.

Our home energy guides will visit your home to identify a range of upgrade opportunities taking into account your budget, including:

  • Building shell upgrades and efficiencies – zoning, draughts, ceiling, wall, underfloor insulation and windows (frames, glazing, coverings, shading)

  • Appliance upgrades and efficiencies – heating, cooling, hot water, pools and other appliances

  • Energy generation - understanding the basics of solar generation, feed-in tariffs, load shifting and maintenance

  • Review energy bills to assess whether you can reduce consumption.

Each site visit takes approximately 1.5 hours where our home energy guides inspect your home, get an understanding of your lifestyle, discuss upgrade options along with the relative cost and potential benefits. After the visit, a written report will be provided summarising the suggested actions you can take.

About our Home Energy Guides

Our home energy guides are community volunteers who have completed three days of training conducted with an accredited energy efficiency scorecard assessor. They have police and working with children checks.

They do not have the qualifications of an assessor but can offer helpful guidance in creating an energy efficient home for increased all year comfort. While our volunteer assessors are not accredited score assessors, they do provide valuable insights for people who do not want the expense of a professional service and would like to start or progress their journey to an all-electric home.
