Electrify Boroondara
Home Energy Guides Training Program
Are you passionate about energy efficiency? Are you keen to help Boroondara residents improve the comfort of their homes, save money and reduce their carbon emissions? We are delighted to be launching the second cohort of Electrify Boroondara Home Energy Guides.
What is the aim of the program?
We are looking to recruit 10 volunteers who would like to learn how to give energy efficiency support to Boroondara householders during in-home info sessions. At Electrify Boroondara we often hear people say “I don’t know where to begin” or “I don’t have the money to make big changes” or “I don’t know who to trust”. Our in-home energy efficiency training will equip you to answer these questions and offer vital support to set homeowners on the course to a fully electric home.
What are the program details?
If selected for this training program, participants will receive 2.5 days of intensive training with industry expert Lucinda Flynn from Going Green Solutions. Lucinda is a Government accredited Scorecard Assessor. Scorecard Assessors are home energy efficiency experts who assess the comfort and energy costs of a home, and make tailored improvement recommendations.
During the 2.5 days of training, Lucinda will train participants in how to help homeowners improve the energy efficiency of their homes, update their appliances to be efficient and electric and take up rooftop solar. Day 1 and 2 will be lecture style learning, and Day 3 will include 2 site visits where you can observe an in-home session with a householder.
After completing this training, Home Energy Guides will have the opportunity to conduct in-home energy assessments in pairs, where you can assist householders with their questions and offer support based on skills learned during your training. After these Home Energy Guide visits, you would work within your team of 2 to prepare a report indicating top 3 priorities that each household should focus on to help them improve energy efficiency and reduce energy bills.
We would ask you to conduct 12 Home Energy Guide visits over the 12 months following the training. We will support you along the way and consult you on your specific availability each month to schedule the visits.
Who are we looking for?

We are also looking for a few Mandarin speakers to join the training program so that we can support Mandarin speaking householders with energy efficiency tips as well.
