Expressions of Interest:

Ongoing Marketing/Comms Consultant (Retainer basis)

Electrify Boroondara (EB) is a volunteer-led, not-for-profit organisation helping local households transition to healthier, more efficient, all-electric homes. We provide trusted, practical, community-first guidance on electrification, energy efficiency and cost-of-living relief.

EB has built strong momentum and credibility:

·       ~100 home energy assessments completed or booked

·       A 2025 Expo with 2,000 attendees, 50+ exhibitors and all levels of government represented

·       200+ volunteers, including deep technical expertise

·       3,000+ engaged subscribers seeking independent, non-commercial advice

We work alongside respected partners such as Rewiring Australia, Renew and Yarra Energy Foundation, and are closely aligned with local Council climate and community goals. This is an opportunity to help shape how thousands of households understand and act on electrification.

The Opportunity

We are seeking expressions of interest from a Marketing consultant or small marketing agency to support EB as a Comms Consultant, funded via a City of Boroondara triennial grant. The funding would run from July 2026 for 3 years.

The objectives of the activity are to turn expert content into clear, consistent community communications — not creating content from scratch or selling products. This is a retainer-based, deliverables-focused engagement; and is not employment on a casual, full-time or part-time basis.

Year 1 will include some learning and process-setup; Years 2–3 will build on this foundation as systems mature and programs evolve.

 Indicative Year 1 Scope

  •  5 newsletters per year to a 2,000+ mailing list

    • Content inputs will be provided by EB experts and partner organisations (e.g. Rewiring Australia, Renew, Yarra Energy Foundation).

    • Collaborate with the EB Experts on Content Calendar, and topics for each Newsletter

    • Copywrite/edit content in consistent tone of voice (in most cases only light editing required)

    • Format newsletter on CRM system (Action Network) and prepare for review & delivery

  • 2–3 social media posts per month

    • Draft Social media posts for Instagram/Facebook/Linkedin including imagery / video content as necessary

    • Send for EB Committee review & Schedule posts for publishing

    • Monitor and optimise established Meta & Google campaigns (we have up to $10,000/month grant for Adwords, and do adhoc Meta campaigns)

  • Communications and event support for 2–3 EB events/projects per year

    • Prepare and deliver invitation emails & social media posts for each event

  • Prepare brief report at end of each 12 months summarising activity and metrics

Who This Would Suit

This role would suit someone who:

  • Is values-driven and interested in climate, sustainability or community impact

  • Has experience in community, NFP or public-interest communications

  • Is practical, organised and comfortable working with volunteers

  • Wants to make a visible, meaningful contribution locally

 Next Steps

At this stage, we are seeking expressions of interest only. Shortlisted contenders will be given the chance to clarify any questions and subsequently provide a brief quote/proposal as part of EB’s triennial grant submission.
